'...an absorbing read. The stories are packed with information that conveys the conventions and attitudes affecting the characters, and portrays realistic and at times harrowing details, which leave a lasting impression on the reader.' Janet Williamson, 'Historic Novels Review'  February 2011 Edition'

Living in Hope' is  being published in March 2011!

I am very excited about this, my latest historical fiction.

For many years I grew up not knowing anything about my father's Canadian Weatherup family. Because neither did he.

So, having been inspired by BBC's 'Who Do You Think You Are' television series and aided by the 'Ancestry' genealogy internet site, I decided it was time to find my family roots.

What did I expect to find? A few skeletons in the family wardrobe for certain - and perhaps the reason why my Canadian-born father and his little sister had found themselves abandoned in London, England by his mother during the Great Depression and disowned by his father.

What I hadn't expect to find was a gruesome murder in the family that, one-hundred-and-thirty-years later has slipped in the realms of being an urban Halloween myth.

From the wife of an Napoleonic Gunner from Glenavy in Antrim to the street-wise London wife of a Canadian World War 1 soldier - my latest novel 'Living in Hope' tracks the extraordinary lives of three women from three successive generations of this family - my family.

A tale of love, hope and betrayal - 'Living in Hope' is due to be released in February 2011.So watch this space for more 'Living in Hope' updates.

Also...coming soon-photos from my recent trip to Ontario including Dummer, Garden Hill and Cobourg as I retrace to story of 'Living In Hope'
