Click on article to enlarge Disclaimer Re; other novel titled 'Mayflower Maid' by Raleigh Bruce Barlowe. The 'Mayflower Maid ' which appears in the November 2006 issue of The Smithsonian Magazine IS NOT the book of the same title by Raleigh Bruce Barlowe. The authors wish it to be known that the 2006 self-published novel of the same title by Mr. Raleigh Bruce Barlowe from Dorrance Publishing of Pittsburgh has nothing whatsoever to do with our own novel, Mayflower Maid and that no proceeds from that publication have been pledged to any U.K Pilgrim Fathers charity to our knowledge. The appearance of this other, later novel by Mr. Raleigh Bruce Barlowe with the same title as ours has obviously caused my co-author and myself the greatest of heartache and anxiety that confusion may be raised in the minds of our readers. We are sad that, despite our repeated requests for the opportunity to discuss the matter with Mr. Raleigh Bruce Barlowe personally to try to settle this matter amicably, to date he has not replied other than by letters from his publishers. However, we are assured by Mr. Raleigh Bruce Barlowe's publishers Dorrance Publishing of Pittsburgh that our fears are completely groundless and that readers will easily be able to distinguish between our novel (which is about a young woman as she escapes with the Separatists from England, travels to the New World on The Mayflower and helps found the settlement of Plymouth) from Mr. Raleigh Bruce Barlowe's novel (which is about a young woman as she escapes with the Separatists from England, travels to the New World on The Mayflower and helps found the settlement of Plymouth).
